HISTORY

Cobblestone Deli is housed in what was known as the Emile Dupont Roofing Company Building which has been a figure on Burlington’s waterfront since the 1870’s. The historic building has been used for the food service business since 1885 when it was the Corcoran’s Grocery. The family lived upstairs from the store in the building until the turn of the century, when they sold the business. Since the early 1900’s, and under a few different owners, the building has served as a grocery for local residents and workers.

For a short period of time, the building was used as a storage place for Emile and Ruth Dupont’s roofing business, with vacancies in the apartments upstairs. Since then, the Dupont building has again become a centerpiece of waterfront culinary history. There are many “regulars” at the Cobblestone Deli, which is not surprising, considering the history of food service success this old Burlington waterfront landmark brings with it.
